I'm mad that I can't afford two cars. I can't give up my WRX.
I'm starting to get into hiking. This thing could take me places where my WRX just couldn't. And long road trips would be a lot more comfortable.

I've considered putting it on Forester springs and picking up some small rally wheels and slipping dirt rubber over them.

I'm starting to really like how these new XTs look.

They call that a Crosstrek... or a Forester XT.

Fast and sporty, or practical and capable?

My Wife and I just bought a non-turbo Forester and love it. It does road trips quite well (we just did 8 hour hour road trip and the seats are fantastic). I like myself a spirited drive and the CVT behaves handsomely, it doesn't get in the way of driving the vehicle, it simply just works and doesn't drone any. The 2.5L four is adequate & efficient, but the XT's 2.0T would certainly be fun if you're willing to trade some gas mileage.

I owned a wrx and a forester xt. The forester isn't anymore comfortable, and only marginally better offroad. It has a few more inches of clearance. I picked up a 91 Loyale as a backpacking car for $800 and it is actually much better offroad than the forester.

What year Forester? The new ones have tons more clearance than my '13 WRX? And I've had a base model 2014 Forester. It is absolutely more comfortable.
